Meaningful Community Engagement and Planning

Overview

Skeo supports meaningful community engagement and planning through our talented staff of facilitators, community engagement specialists, and urban planners and landscape designers. Our practitioners create a collaborative atmosphere and generate community-based solutions to organizational, environmental, or local planning challenges. Skeo’s approach results in productive collaborations across varying perspectives and sectors to develop a direction for achieving shared goals. At Skeo, we take the time for listening to community needs and building trust.

Outreach and Engagement

Through our national and local contracts, we offer a full range of community engagement services. Skeo brings extensive expertise in the effective engagement of communities impacted by hazardous waste and an in-depth understanding of the unique connection shared between environment and people. We use a variety of outreach methods including plain language materials, survey and questionnaire development and analysis, and graphic design and infographics for communication. Our engagement services include focus group listening sessions, community needs assessments, and community engagement plans.

Community Planning and Design

Skeo’s approach to community-based planning results in visionary plans that reflect a detailed understanding of local priorities and lay the groundwork for communities to achieve their goals. Skeo has developed over 200 community plans nationally, giving us a knowledge base of successful best practices to address specific challenges. Skeo’s multi-disciplinary team includes expertise in planning, landscape architecture, environmental science, engineering, and economics. Our focus areas include Superfund reuse, brownfield areawide planning, watershed and green infrastructure, climate resiliency, and community revitalization.

Facilitation and Training

Skeo has over 20 years of experience in facilitation in a variety of settings, and we tailor our approach to create space for productive dialogues and collaborative problem-solving. We strive to create productive collaborations across varying perspectives and sectors to develop a direction for achieving shared understanding and goals. Our services include focus groups, listening sessions, interagency facilitation, municipal coaching, workshop design and facilitation, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving coaching and facilitation.
